What will your legacy be? This is a difficult question to answer. The definition of Legacy is defined in the as a gift or a bequest, which is handed down, endowed or conveyed from one person to another.
Let me share a personal story with you. My Paternal Grandmother and I were very close and I loved to spend time with her. She would share stories with me about her younger years and the adventures that she had. She also shared with me the values that were instilled in her by her parents and grandparents. I learned about why she treated people with respect and why she valued family and traditions. Her example of unconditional love will always be a part of my life.
The times that I spent with her, the values and stories that she shared left a Legacy of who she was. While there were some materialistic things that I inherited, the stories about these items will always be with me.
She also took the time to write a history about her life growing up. She shared how she and my Grandfather met, information about her wedding, the birth of her children and some crazy stories about the family trips and outings.
Her Legacy has helped to be the person that I am. I am also able to share with my children and now my grandchild, who she was and who I am.
In part 2 of Leaving a Legacy I will share some ways of sharing your legacy to the generations that will follow you.
